Tom the Teddy pattern

Welcome to this third instalment of “my first project”. This week we are introducing a new technique, and you can read all about it here. If you don’t have a cat brush or fur yarn, you can still crochet this cutie in the “normal” way.

The materials you need
– a 3mm crochet hook
– teddy yarn
– toy stuffing
safety eyes
– a scissor
cat comb

The techniques you need to know
– Magic ring
– Single crochet (SC)
– Increasing (2in1)
– Decreasing (2to1)
Crocheting with fur yarn

  1. Hi Marie
I’d like to have a go at making your gorgeous teddy. How much of the faux fur yarn does he take?
    Thanks very much
    Hazel

    1. Another quick thing: I saw that the James Brett faux fur suggests 6mm hook. Do you use a 3mm hook to make the bear tighter so his stuffing does not come out? Thanks

    2. He does not take much yarn, less than one skein! (maybe about 1/2)

And yes, I use a 3mm hook to make it tighter, but if the yarn suggests a 6mm hook I would perhaps try with a 4mm hook instead of a 3mm one, or else it might be too difficult to crochet. But try and see what works! 🙂

      Good luck!

      Marie 🙂
